Microsoft New Logo Design in 2012
For the past 25 years Microsoft has not changed its logo, the last change in the same place in 1987, just two years after the release of the first version of Windows.

According to Microsoft, the new four small squares symbol that follow the name are intended to reflect the diversity of products the company sells. The font chosen for the company name is the same as that used in newer products like Windows 8.
According to Jeff Hansen, G.M of Brand Strategy said in official blog:
This wave of new releases is not only a reimagining of our most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so our logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning.
